The Food and Fiber System (FFS) is a major source of jobs in the United States. It contains all the processes that bring products from the provider all the way to the consumer. The FFS deals with many jobs and companies such as farm workers and large resturaunt chains. The FFS makes sure that the demands of households, businesses and even other nations are met. Farming and agriculture is one of the main parts of the FFS even though it only takes up about 1% of it. The necessary and main parts of the FFS are production, processing, marketing, distrobution, research and development, regulation, support services, and natural resource management. The products make their way to the consumers throughout the process with each step adding value to the product.
